There are many reasons older kittens & young adults are available. The most common reason is genetics. Breeders hold back their favorite kittens as potential show or breeding cats. Sometimes we change our mind. Many older kittens were actually 'pick of the litter.' Some are imports that either did not pass a temperament test (shy--this is always mentioned). Some are retiring after a short career as being a mommy or daddy. Young adults are frequently available as I do not often keep breeders until "retired" of old age. It is fair to the cat to retire very early. This also diversifies bloodlines & genetics, ensuring kittens have ZERO% inbreeding. The third reason, although uncommon, is if a previous adopter must rehome their cat. Finally, if a customer placed a deposit on a kitten that was held for some time & for whatever reason, changed their mind or we refunded their purchase price for incompatibly.
